Common questions

Before you call

How do I know whether a problem is an emergency?

If it leaves the property unsecured, puts stock at risk, floods a floor, or comes with a burning smell, call. If you are weighing it up at night, call anyway. Someone who works here answers, out of hours included, and will tell you honestly whether it can wait until morning.

Who fixes the problem once I have called?

It depends on the trade. Doors, locks, glass, walls, ceilings, floors and paint are fixed by our own technicians. Electrical, plumbing, HVAC and refrigeration need a Florida license at any job size, so a licensed contractor carries them out and we coordinate and document the work. Each entry above says which applies.

Is there a charge for someone to attend?

Yes. Attending is chargeable whether or not work follows, and you are given the rate before anyone is dispatched. That way the figure on the invoice is the one you were told on the phone.

What should I have ready when I call?

The address, what is failing and roughly when it started, and how to get into the building after hours. Photographs help. The article on what to have ready when you call for emergency service covers the rest.

Planning ahead is covered in our field notes, and every trade we cover is listed on the services page. If you want the first steps on one sheet for the reception desk, print the emergency card.

One company, whoever does the work

Our technicians handle the trades that need no state license, and licensed contractors handle the ones that do. Either way we scope it, book the visit and file the record. Tell us the property and the problem and we will come back with a window. Call out of hours and someone who works here answers.
