Commercial refrigeration in Miami Beach

Hotel and restaurant refrigeration on the Beach, where the equipment never gets a quiet week and the salt air shortens everything.

Two things make Miami Beach the hardest refrigeration environment in the county. The first is salt: condenser coils, exterior fixings and electrical terminations corrode at a rate that makes a standard service interval genuinely inadequate. The second is that nothing closes, so there is no comfortable window in which to take a unit offline.

Work here happens overnight or early morning, contained and cleaned down before service resumes. A guest should never know a technician was in the building, and a kitchen should never lose a cold room during covers.

What we get called for here

  • Walk-in cooler and freezer servicing in hotel back of house
  • Bar, under-counter and display refrigeration
  • Ice machine descaling, repair and replacement
  • Buffet and cold line holding equipment
  • Condenser coil cleaning and corrosion treatment
  • Temporary cooling to protect stock during a failure

What is different here

Refrigeration in Miami Beach, specifically

Corrosion is the main variable, not the exception

Within a mile of the water, coils foul and corrode fast enough that the manufacturer interval is simply the wrong schedule. We inspect for corrosion specifically on every visit and recommend coil coatings and shorter intervals, because the alternative is a compressor failing in the middle of season.

Seasonality decides when capital work happens

The sensible moment to replace an ageing cold room or re-gas a tired system is the shoulder season, not the week before a holiday weekend. Give us visibility of your calendar and we will plan the disruptive work into the quiet part of the year.

Back of house has no spare capacity

A Beach hotel kitchen running at occupancy has nowhere to move product if a walk-in fails, which is why our first conversation on an emergency is about protecting stock rather than diagnosing the fault. Sometimes that means a temporary unit before anything else happens.

In practice

Ice machines, and why they generate the most complaints

No piece of equipment in a Beach hotel gets neglected as reliably as the ice machine, and none produces more complaints when it falls behind. Demand peaks in the same weeks the ambient temperature and the humidity peak, so a machine already struggling with a fouled condenser and a scaled evaporator will halve its output exactly when the bar needs everything it can make.

Scale is the usual culprit and it builds steadily rather than suddenly. A machine on a descaling schedule keeps its rated output for years. A machine only touched when someone reports a problem will spend most of its life underperforming, and the eventual repair costs far more than the servicing would have.

Access is the other Beach-specific complication. Getting a replacement unit into a back-of-house corridor on Collins or Ocean means arranging loading, working around delivery restrictions and often moving equipment through a service route designed for laundry carts. We measure the route before ordering, because a unit that will not fit through the door is an expensive way to lose a night.

Common questions

Refrigeration in Miami Beach

How much difference does salt air actually make?

A significant one. Condenser coils, exterior hardware and electrical terminations degrade noticeably faster within a mile or so of the water. We shorten service intervals for coastal properties and inspect for corrosion as a specific item rather than noticing it incidentally.

Can you work overnight so guests are not disturbed?

Yes, and for hotels that is usually how anything non-urgent is scheduled. Contained working area, low noise where possible, and the site cleared and cleaned before service resumes.

What happens if a walk-in fails mid-service?

Call us and keep the door shut. The first conversation is about protecting what is in the box, whether that means a temporary unit, moving product or an honest read on how long you have. Emergency dispatch runs around the clock.

Do you service ice machines?

Yes, and we would rather do it on a schedule than after a complaint. Descaling and condenser cleaning keep output at the rated figure, which matters most in the weeks when demand and ambient temperature both peak. Related: everything we do on the Beach.
